Children in Harmony Choral Festival is recognized as one of the finest children's choral festivals both nationally and internationally. Your choristers will enjoy singing outstanding repertoire, including a commissioned work, on a professional stage at the WALT DISNEY WORLD® Resort. Each participating choir will be featured in an individual showcase concert at both Walt Disney World Resort and the beautiful St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.

David Brunner , Commissioned Composer 2010

2008-2009 Bio

David L. Brunner is one of today’s most active and versatile composers and conductors. He is Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at the University of Central Florida in Orlando and is well known for his compelling work with singers of all ages, conducting All-State and regional honor choirs throughout the United States at the elementary, middle and high school levels. 

As an inspired teacher, he is also a popular clinician at choral festivals and educational workshops throughout North America and Europe.

Brunner is an imaginative composer who has received numerous ASCAP awards and in 2000 joined a prestigious group of American composers when he was named Raymond W. Brock Commissioned Composer by the American Choral Directors Association. 

This year he conducts choirs from Japan, Hong Kong, the Philippines and China at the Asian Pacific Activities Conference Choral Festival in Kobe, Japan, All-State High School Women’s Choirs in Virginia and Nebraska, the Alabama ACDA Young Singers Festival Junior High Mixed Choir at Auburn University, and the Norman All-City Chorus in Norman, Oklahoma. In May he returns to Carnegie Hall for a sixth time, conducting a concert of his works for chorus and orchestra. He also appears as conductor for the Portland Symphonic Girlchoir workshop, the High School Choral Leadership Workshop at Emporia State University in Kansas, and headliner clinician and conductor at the Voices United tri-state conference at George Mason University in Virginia. New works premiere in Florida, Indiana, South Carolina, Michigan, Scotland and the Netherlands.

Dr. Brunner has served on the editorial board for The Choral Journal and is the author of articles in both The Choral Journal and Music Educators Journal. He is published by Boosey & Hawkes, Inc.


Barbara Tagg , Artistic Director

Barbara M. Tagg is Artistic Director / Founder of the internationally recognized Syracuse Children’s Chorus, currently celebrating their 28th season.  She is an Instructor at SyracuseUniversity where she conducts the S.U. Women’s Choir and is a member of the music education faculty.  As a board member of Chorus America, Barbara serves on the Governance and Conducting Task Force Committees and served as Co-Dean of two masterclasses in Los Angeles and Chicago.  In demand internationally, Barbara has presented concerts and workshops in England, Europe, Canada, Hong Kong and China, as well as for universities and choral organizations throughout the United States.  Barbara was the first nationally elected chair of the American Choral Directors Association Repertoire and Standards Committee.
 
Recognized for her dedication to American music and new compositions, Barbara has premiered over 75 works for treble choirs.  In addition to serving as the Artistic Director / Conductor for the annual Children In Harmony Choral Festival at the Walt Disney World Resort since its debut, Barbara conducted the Adirondack Children’s Chorus at the Adirondack Festival of American Music for over twenty years. She is an Honorary Member of the Ernst Bacon Foundation, and a member of Pi Kappa Lambda.  Barbara has been honored by ACDA, the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra, SyracuseUniversity, Civic Morning Musicals, and Sigma Alpha Iota for her commitment to musical excellence, music education and to the choral art.
